Book of Avilorn
Types of Elves:
Grevi: Grevi is the elven word for humans (literally “domestic”). High Elves living in human realms are referred to by this pejorative. Such elves do seem closer to human in culture, not being as weird as the other elves.
Ceal: High elves that live in the fae realms in the Lodnar. Their sovereign is the Fae Queen, Ilaejyl.
White: White elves (Elves of the ships) live on the islands west of the Lands. They are taller and more mystical than other elves.
Wild: The Feral elves live the forests between San Servus and the Veriber Mountains. They are very savage, xenophobic, and generally grumpy.
Grey: The mysterious grey elves are rarely seen. They are very magical and enigmatic.
Boshen: In the jungles of Andpostahd live a tribe of 1/2 elves called the Boshen. They are very in tuned with nature and, as such, limit their contact with material objects.
Rolandian: In the forests of Rolandia live elves that are similar to high elves. However, they are shorter, sharper of features, and jumpier than their San Servian cousins.
Sea: Some High elves have magically adapted to living under the sea and are thus sea elves.
Some Elven Words:
Hello/Good Bye- Amnelae
I don’t know nor do I care- Mu’a
Let’s Ride!- Eva’ya
Do It, NOW!- Hae Asela
Many apologies- Dohl tevnor
Brother/Sister/Best Friend- Hatha
Destiny- Estyr: The concept of Estyr is complex. Basically, the past has already made the future and the future will shape the past. One’s life is determined by past and future but the present is where you can change both.
Mortal-Neya: Neya may only be used as an adjective. Elven culture does not have a concept of Death as a thing of its own. Dead is a condition things have at this moment. But nothing is truely ever dead fore it once lived. This is the root of the common human misconception that Elves live forever.
“When your present journey ends, may you find beauty.”
